Hi, I’m Zach, and I want to welcome you to 100 Creative Cities, an online learning community for churches and leaders who want to creatively engage Millennials and the generations together to launch people and ideas.
From growing up as a pastor’s kid, to working as a church staff-member, to training and developing bivocational church leaders, I’ve become passionate about the potential of the church – your church – to be a hub that brings the generations together to launch people and ideas that have incredible impact in your community.
Here’s the big idea of 100 Creative Cities
In the early 15th century, a few little workshops in northern Italy birthed the Renaissance. These workshops, called bottegas, were intergenerational places of creativity where a Master Artist provided space, training, mentorship, and resources for younger artisans to learn and grow. Michelangelo and Da Vinci started out in these little workshops, and combined ideas that celebrated the capacity of God and man to create beautiful things that pointed back to the Maker. In a changing world, these little workshops changed the world by bringing generations together to launch people and ideas.
As it turns out, places like these bottegas have always been present at moments when the world is changing how it thinks and acts, engaging younger and older people together to shape what it could be.
That’s what 100 Creative Cities is really about-
In a rapidly changing world, can the church be a physical space that brings Millennials and the generations together to launch people and ideas?
If we can figure it out now, your Creative Church will be a place that effectively engages generations to come.
The conversation starts with this Millennial generation aged 18-35 in your church.
Why 100 Creative Cities is valuable to you
100 Creative Cities is built around a simple, but powerful, 3-part framework that these creative places have followed, and that your church can, too, to engage Millennials and the generations together to launch people and ideas.
- Incubation – your church as a space that brings people and ideas together
- Mentorship – your church as a place where Millennials and the generations learn together
- Investment – your church as a sponsor that launches these people and ideas
On the surface, you’ll find at 100 Creative Cities a database of articles and research on the blog that talk about what this looks like and some ideas on how to do it. New and fresh content is published all the time. Stay as long as you like!
But the real value is to be found by enrolling in the 100 Creative Cities online learning network. You’ll join a growing community of innovative churches and leaders who are sinking their teeth into figuring out this framework in their churches and communities.
There you’ll gain access to monthly masterclasses, where you’ll get to learn from thought leaders in the space, monthly Q&A calls, and a 24/7 community forum to share and learn together.
That last piece might be the most important part – you’ll be joining an intentional group of people who are hurtling toward a common vision – seeing at least 5 churches in each of 100 cities globally who are purposefully experimenting with the Creative Church.
This future, the future of the church, is incredibly exciting and I’d love to be a part of it with you. Here are a couple easy ways we can get started together.
